A Statement from the London Mets

The London Mets Baseball Club issue this statement with respect to the inappropriate social media post promoting the Women's Baseball League from the British Baseball Federation.

We were disappointed by the image chosen for what is a major achievement for sport. The effect of this imagery has had a direct and tangible negative impact on British Baseball. We understand the hurt that it has caused for many in the baseball community, it is unacceptable, and we condemn it unequivocally.

A more structured review process of such advertisements should be in place prior to the release of such ads, and we will be demanding this going forward. The London Mets Baseball and Softball Club does not, and will never condone sexism, intentional or otherwise.

Our London Mets Club strives to be an inclusive club and provide a safe environment where all our players and coaches can enjoy, compete, and thrive. We are continuously working to improve our record of inclusion.

Our obligation as a club is always to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for our staff, players, coaches, parents, and youth.

The resignation of the GB women's national team manager as a direct consequence of the post and the reaction of the BBF following complaints has had a direct and tangible negative impact on British Baseball.
