Never played before?
Baseball4Beginners has run every summer since 2011 and it’s designed for exactly that. You don’t need kit, experience, or anyone to come with. Quite a few people who started here now play for our senior teams, and some of them have championship rings.
Baseball4Beginners
An introduction to the game for adults, whether you’re starting from nothing or shaking off a lot of rust.
Coaches from across the club take the sessions. You’ll pick up hitting, fielding, throwing, running and the rules, and nobody is going to make you feel daft for not knowing them.
- Friday evenings at Finsbury Park
- 15 May until August
- All equipment provided
Winter programmes and summer camps are priced separately.
The Canal League, where people go next
We set it up in 2022 so that people finishing B4B had somewhere to keep playing — proper games, without the pressure.
- How it works
Four teams play two games every Saturday through the summer, with playoffs at the end of August.
- Who plays
Mostly people who’ve been through B4B or something like it and want to keep going while they learn.
Where it can lead
This is roughly the route a lot of our senior players took. None of them arrived ready either.
Baseball4Beginners
Friday evenings from May to August.
Canal League
Saturdays, real games, nobody shouting at you.
Division 5
The Mastodons, Mayhem or Mercenaries, in the federation’s entry division.
Further up
Divisions 4, 3, 2, and eventually the National Baseball League.
Women’s baseball. London Mayhem started in 2021 in the federation’s women’s league, and we run Step Up To The Plate open sessions through the year. Gabriella Sassoli on the board looks after this.
